Rushmore

With my first paycheck, I decided to treat myself to Wes Anderson’s film, Rushmore.  I saw it for the first time about 9 years ago.  Back then I rented it just because Bill Murray was in it.  Anyway, it was great to see it again.  An absolute masterpiece.  A delight in all its aspects.  Funny in a sweet, genuinely human way.  How come all comedies these days are based on outrageous sex jokes and cheap gross-out gags?  I’ll probably watch it several times a year for the rest of my life.  But, hey, I’m like that.  I’ve probably watched the Darjeeling Limited about 50 times since February, and the Life Aquatic maybe 40 times.  (I don’t have cable.)

BTW – My wife is hosting a Halloween/costume party, and I’m going to dress up as a member of team Zissou.  I bought some cheap, light blue pajamas and ordered a red toque.  No one at the party will no recognize my costume, but I don’t care.
