Do Christians believe in the naturalness of the world?

Does anyone believe in the naturalness of the world?

It seems to me that belief in the naturalness of the world is not optional.  What I mean is that, psychologically, disbelief in the naturalness of the world is impossible for us.

You might be thinking, “I admit that I don’t disbelieve, but I could if I wanted to!  Why do you think it is impossible to disbelieve?”

Because we are already deeply invested in belief before we ever get a chance to stop and reflect on it.  And, try as we might, we cannot actually put disbelief into practice.

We can say we don’t believe in it.  But we can’t help but act on the truth of the naturalness of the world.

If you came across someone who really (and not just notionally) disbelieved in the naturalness of the world, you’d think she was seriously unwell, not merely mistaken, right?

Given the world we live in, and the kind of creatures we are, we simply are the kind of people who do believe in the naturalness of the world.

The sooner we admit this the better.
