Moral Decline?

Is our society in moral and cultural decline?

I’m not so sure.

The more I think about it the more it seems to me that regular folks have always been prone to enjoy cultural trash. Maybe the elite culture is in decline. There aren’t any successors to Mozart. Now the aristocracy listens to hiphop and indie rock or nothing at all. True or false? Right or wrong? I don’t much care.

But haven’t the masses always been entertained by trash? Sure they have. That might be morally wrong, but it is not a sign of cultural decline.

And aren’t traditional and small town cultures just as immoral if not more than modern big city culture?

Do you really think the sexual revolution brought about huge amounts of new sexual immorality? Really? Or is our picture of the past romanticized?

I’ve heard that teen pregnancies and abortions are both in decline. That doesn’t mean these aren’t still a problem. But it might mean that we aren’t at some kind of all time low.
